6 Sustainable Brands to Shop in 2024
Navigating the world of sustainability can be a real puzzle.
We get it – finding brands that align with your values isn't always a walk in the park, especially when the familiar and convenient ones are right there, offering us smooth brain time.
With the greenwashing beast alive and well, it's hard to trust that green-friendly brands are as green and friendly as they make themselves sound.
So to kick off 2024 on with a sustainably-sourced rubber sole, we've done the legwork and curated a list of just a few brands we're absolutely crushing on. These six brands are pioneers in crafting products that are not just eco-friendly but also innovative and downright exceptional. So, if you're on the lookout for ethical choices this year, here are our top picks.

Bed Threads

If you're living in Melbourne/not under a rock, chances are you've heard of Bed Threads.
Luxurious, 100% flax linen sheets in stylish, gram-worthy colours. Your bedroom won't know what's hit it.
Linen is becoming a real household name in the world of sustainable textiles. It's crafted from the durable flax plant, which thrives in poor soil, sips way less water during its production compared to cotton or polyester, and is used in its entirety.
It's also renewable, biodegradable, and recyclable, ensuring it won't sit in a landfill like a forgotten disco ball.
Bed Threads also dips their linens in eco-friendly dyes, and here's the fancy part: Bed Threads is OEKO-TEX 100 certified. Translation? Every fibre, button, and thread in Bed Threads' 100% French Flax Linen and 100% Mongolian Cashmere has gone through the wringer (not literally) and tested for over 100 harmful chemicals and substances.
Bed Threads is carbon neutral, and it's packaging is as guilt-free as a cheat day.
Every time you crash into your pillow, you're also giving the planet a little love.

Chobani

Pioneers of the Flip yoghurts I live my life by, Chobani are making big steps in the sustainable and social impact realms.
When it comes to sustainability, Chobani are on a mission to shake up the entire food system with real, transformative change. Their internal Sustainability Task Force focuses on key areas like water, waste, and diverse supply chains, finding ways to be greener.
For instance, over 80% over the water they use is returned clean to their local river. Their by-products are used in their Chobani Creamers or sold to butter and ice cream makers. Almost 90% of their packaging is recycle-ready, and they're always hunting for better options while campaigning for better recycling options in the States.
When COVID-19 hit, Chobani pivoted, donating 10.5 million products to communities in need. They also turned their Chobani Café® into a food pantry.
Their Hero Batch yogurt, "Red, White and Blueberry," raises millions for Operation Homefront, supporting military families. They also have partnerships with leading advocates against child hunger.
Chobani isn't just a lovely yogurt - it's a delicious force for good.

Lucent Globe

Lucent Globe, founded by passionate Gold Coast-born twins, offers Aussies high-quality, eco-friendly products.
Inspired by the pristine, plastic-laden landscapes they encountered worldwide, they embarked on a mission to combat pollution starting small, with everyday essentials like laundry sheets, dishwashing sheets, and fabric softener.
Their laundry sheets are a game-changer – 100% recyclable cardboard packaging, a gentle formula for skin and the environment, and a resolute aim to eliminate single-use plastics.
Committed to 'Brighter Together,' they spare no expense in reducing the use of harmful chemicals, ensuring their products are allergy-friendly and sourced sustainably.

Heaps Normal

A certified B Corp, Heaps Normal produce delicious beers that won't make you absolutely legless.
Inspired by the rise in mindful drinking culture, the boys behind Heaps Normal wanted to brew a beer that tasted so good, you wouldn't miss the alcohol.
After months of trials, they've finally created a delicious beer that prioritises good mems and forgoes the hangover.

Awwa

Another B Corp, if you please!
Indigenous owned and female-founded, Awwa are a period care brand creating alternatives for single-use period products. Deeply rooted in indigenous traditions, Awwa embraces the Māori term 'ikura' (meaning 'period'), weaving together heritage and modernity.
Made with natural, organic, recycled fabrics and toxic-free processes, they're the kinda material you can feel confident wearing. Their traceable supply chain is transparent on each of their main product pages, and they've offset at least 120% of their carbon footprint.
Their mission? Threefold magic: crushing period poverty, embracing eco-friendliness, and reshaping how we feel about periods.

Blackboard Coffee

We'd be remiss if we concluded our list without a recommendation for some good brew.
Blackboard Coffee make seriously good, sustainably-packaged in our mailing boxes (!) bean juice.
Operating out of QLD, they're passionate about sourcing their coffee ethically. They continually strengthen their relationships with their coffee farmers, wholesale partners and coffee drinkers.
Not to mention their coffee is only sourced from farmers who prioritise quality, ethical and sustainable growing practices.
We'd love a cuppa, thanks.

Wrapping Up

In the vast universe of sustainability, finding the right brands can be as tricky as solving a Rubik's Cube blindfolded.
We hope this list is a great leaping-off point for tickling your inner capitalist in 2024 - green boxes checked.
